Cody Johnson may have already had a video treatment for his hit single “The Painter,” but when Teresa McCormick connected with the song, it seemed that another video was in order.

Teresa’s daughter, Katie, has intractable epilepsy which has led to right side weakness and a learning delay. It has also helped Katie develop a love of the painting she was doing as therapy. After hearing “The Painter” Teresa said, “While this song is written about a man’s love for his wife and how she colors his world, it allows everyone who hears it to drift away in thought to that person who adds beauty and color to their own life. Be that a child, a parent, spouse, or friend.” For Teresa, it was Katie.

After hearing Teresa and Katie’s story, Cody knew that Katie’s artwork should be brought to life, so with the help of an A-I artist, “The Painter” tells another story.
