On March 8th of this year, Kaleb Fisher was involved in a horrific dirt bike accident and sustained severe head injuries. He was airlifted to MCV where he spent over 2 weeks, most of which was spent in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Kaleb suffered a fractured skull along with brain bleeding and swelling; he had surgery to remove the majority of the left side of his skull to help relieve the pressure and stop the bleeding.
Kaleb is a fun loving active 8th grader at Powhatan Middle School, as well as he is doing he still has a long way to go. He continues outpatient rehabilitation and faces another surgery to replace the portion of the skull that was removed, hopefully this will happen within the next 2-5 months.
We are calling this fundraiser “Kaleb’s Karnival”; our desire is to help the Kaleb’s family by relieving some of their financial burden and assist them with their medical expenses.
The event will be held on Saturday, April 29th from 9 am to 2 pm at Sweet Shop Cafe in Powhatan at the SouthCreek One shopping center.
Several businesses have donated items for our silent auction, Yardworks, Luck Stone, YMCA, even the University of Virginia; we also plan on having a moonbouce, face painting and other children’s activities. The Powhatan Sheriff’s Department will be present to do child ID kits.
