WHAT YOUR SUPER BOWL CRAVINGS SAY ABOUT YOUR PERSONALITY... (OR LACK THEREOF)

Previous Posts

Buffalo Wings: The Perfectionist
People who crave spicy foods heat up, both literally and figuratively. So why do we keep reaching for more hot sauce instead of a cold beer? Spicy foods cause our temperature to rise and our bodies to perspire; quite literally, we start sweating out the details. Personalities that have a knack for spicy foods tend to be perfectionists; they dislike disorder to the extent they need to sweat it out. Perhaps Super Bowl Sunday is a time for Americans to sweat out the small stuff, so we can go on being perfect (or at least trying to be).

Salty Snacks: The Easy-Going Gal
If you find yourself craving salty potato chips, french fries, and the array of dips this Super Bowl Sunday, you're probably an easy person to get along with and like to "go with the flow." But unfortunately, these salty cravings have few health benefits. Studies have shown that in addition to craving salty foods because they're flat out delicious, low-calcium diets can lead to mineral deficiencies and cause women to crave even more salty foods. High-sodium snacks make for a quick fix by actually tricking the body into thinking it's rich in calcium (key word trick), but beware, this can translate to a personality that is easily fooled and leave you susceptible to believe that outside forces determine your fate. This makes it easy to blame a little extra weight gain on "a higher power".

Sweets: The Standout Sweetheart
Women who bolt directly to the dessert table at this year's Super Bowl party are likely looking for an immediate boost of energy, and what better than a sugar high? The relationship between sugar and sweetness in food translates directly to human personalities; women who enjoy chocolate and other types of sweets tend to be agreeable, compassionate and friendly. They also like to stand out and feel special, so when your best friend turns a simple cupcake display into a full-fledged Super Bowl stadium, you'll know why.

Pizza: The Potentially Depressed
Craving pizza and other cheesy fares could be the result of an estrogen and progesterone deficiency. Unfortunately, this craving often manifests through a depressed personality that's searching for comfort and familiarity (insert, pizza). There's nothing wrong with enjoying a good slice or two, and hey, that can make almost anyone happy. But if your friends are slamming down slices without a smile on their face, it may actually be a health concern.

Vegetable Tray: The Control Freak
Unless you have a diet restriction that doesn't allow you to dip into the danger zone, it's likely that you're hanging around the veggie tray because you think being skinny is the end-all, be-all. While we support your healthy eating habits 364 days of the year, today, we want to hang out with the hunky football players, not the starved supermodels. And just to let you know, no matter how much you try convincing yourself (and everyone around you) that those veggies taste better than a good 'ole pig in a blanket, we see right through your two-dimensional frame.
